RCHS Pet of the Week

BANDIT

6-month-old neutered male Border Collie/Labrador Retriever mix, 35 pounds

I’m a young, energetic fella who will get you off the couch this winter! I do love toys, too! I don’t know how to retrieve them, but I love to chase them, especially tennis balls. I’m social and I enjoy being with people. I already know Sit, so I know I can learn more commands and tricks. I like treats, so it should be easy to teach me. I have pretty nice leash manners for a guy my age, and I’m looking forward to walks and hikes. I arrived at RCHS on Jan. 11 as a stray from West Rutland. I have no known history with dogs, cats or children but I may do well with them. I did kill a chicken at the home where I was found, so please keep that in mind if you have small animals, cats or small dogs at home. I am looking for an experienced dog owner because I have been able to do whatever I want, and I have no manners. I am very mouthy when I play (and I have sharp teeth) and I like to jump at you, and can be pretty annoying at times. I need someone who is really going to work with me and give me the guidance I need. I’m smart, but I’ll need lots of direction and positive reinforcement! I’m nearly house-trained but I’ll still need some work on it. If you’re looking for a young dog to work with and help become a great adult dog to enjoy for many years, please stop by for a visit!
