Nineteen seats open for upcoming Chester elections

CHESTER — Nineteen seats are open for Elective Offices for 2018 in Chester, including three seats each on the Chester Select Board, budget committee, library trustees, and three school directors.

Elective offices open for 2018 include: Town Moderator – one year term; members of the select board – two 1-year terms and one 3-year term; Town Grand Juror – one year term; Agent to Defend Suits – one year term; Trustee of Public Funds – one 3-year term; and Trustees of the Whiting Library – three 3-year terms.

Also available are the following elective offices: CTSD Director – two terms until June 30, 2018; CAES Director, Union No. 29 – one term until June 30, 2018; GMUHS Director, Union No. 35 – one term until June 30, 2018; and Budget Committee – six seats, each with a 3-year term, all according to information on the Chester municipal website.

Petition forms for the elected positions are available at the Chester town clerk’s office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any questions can be directed to the office at (802) 875-2173.

Petitions must have 25–30 signatures, and are due back in the town clerk’s office by 5 p.m. on Jan. 29.

Petitions to have an article on the town meeting warning must have 120–130 signatures, and are due back in the Town Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. Jan. 18.

The Chester Annual Town Meeting is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018. Elections are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6.
