Pink flags help raise awareness for breast cancer

— COURTESY PHOTO— COURTESY PHOTOPink flags were planted on the Orvis Green on Tuesday, Oct. 3 in Manchester, during Breast Cancer Action Day hosted by Susan G. Komen New England. The Breast Cancer Awareness Month activity recognized the nearly 600 women and men in Vermont receiving a new breast cancer diagnosis in a year. KNE's Development Coordinator of Special Events in Vermont, Linda Maness, led the activity, assisted by Vermont Race for the Cure committee member Lucy Davis, volunteer David Maness; Long Trail School seniors and National Honors Society members Hannah and Pete; and faculty advisor Kim Rizio. Visitors also stopped to plant flags.
