The award is named for Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Clubs International. It represents dedication to humanitarian service to the highest degree.

Ankuda, Springfield Lions Club and Vermont Lions Charities provide vision screenings, eyeglasses for the needy, and support to community organizations in the Springfield area.

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service organization, and a global leader in humanitarian services, focusing on sight preservation, diabetes prevention, the environment and disaster relief around the world.
