The community fundraising event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13 at the Stone Hearth Inn and Tavern.

In addition to a Family Center Silent Auction, the event will feature a Basket Raffle. Eight large baskets, each valued at more than $200 and filled with items and gift certificates donated by Chester area businesses, will be raffled off during the event.

Visitors can stop in to the Family Center Thrift Shop during business hours to see a basket and get raffle tickets ahead of the event. The shop is open Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 908 VT Route 103 S in Chester.

This year, the Cook Off will feature hot dogs created and cooked by more than a dozen different area restaurant chefs, businesses and sports teams. Voting for a favorite is part of the fun, according to a press release. Last year’s winners were Bill’s Tube Steak Taco and The VT Butcher’s Ruben Dog.

Music, games for children and face painting add to the family experience.

As a charitable event, funds raised will benefit a wide range of adults and children in the community, members of town and school sports teams, and citizens who have participated in the Family Center Food Shelf and Emergency Financial Assistance Program.

Admission is $20 for a family, $10 for adults and $5 for children over 5 years old.
